December is the month for holiday, weddings and gatherings with people you don’t really care about on the other 364 days of the year.
The hubby finally got a car and so we are a bit tight. Plus, I am only a month into my new job. No annual leave, no spare cash and no holiday. Yup, I am scrolling through your holiday pictures.
Weddings… Attended three in a month. You know what people remember about weddings? Bad food, lack of alcohol and dusty carpets. I left early and went home with a runny nose from a wedding last night. Not fun at all.
An acquaintance showed off a wedding she attended in Bhutan and begged me to remove the tag of her when Mothership published an article about the wedding. Ok lor.
Then, the thing about gatherings. I happen to know the most troublesome and entitled children in adult bodies from my Masters program.
In that group, we have a vegan and the other, a Muslim. Please recommend a restaurant that serves vegan and halal for my next gathering. Vegetarian is not going to cut it.
After a week of research and no one is budging, the rest of us decided to settle for having tea and cakes instead. You know what? Both did not show up. Well done folks.
Hey, you know you are special right? I respect your lifestyle and religion. Maybe you want to eat something from somewhere of your choice first before joining others? I do that when I am vegetarian on certain days.
When you know others are actually accommodating you because they are being considerate, be an adult and have the decency to show up.
As if that was not exciting enough, my November pay from the previous company wasn’t in and I had to chase for it. Now I have to monitor if my CPF is going to be in too.
That was the first half of my December. Hang in there. I can’t wait for the year to be over and I hope yours is better.
