Grateful to be a Singaporean

Sun setting in sunny Singapore.#nofilter

Singaporeans are fortunate. Understatement.

I only spend money on summer clothes. I don’t have to seek opportunities for better job prospects overseas.

Best of all, I don’t have to brave the causeway jam like my beautician, my hair stylist and the zichar ah boy from Malaysia.

Even a walk after work felt like it was taken during a holiday.

I am writing this post while I am on my way to Malacca for a weekend getaway. I am still on the bus six hours after work.

The first time I encountered train breakdown in Singapore, I took five hours to get home.

“Some people can complete a full marathon on the time spent traveling,” I lamented.

Yeah. Our Politicians are laughable being the richest in the world yet out of touch. Utilities bill increased yet again. Interest rates are low. Paradox of thrift. HDBs will be worthless after 99 years.

First world problems.

Singapore is not perfect and we definitely can do better.

What if we are the ones seeking work overseas if Singapore’s economy crashes in the near future?

Once in a while, we can stop comparing and complain. Just be grateful for what we have now. Be a grateful Singaporean.
