My IVF Journey: Big Fat Positive!

I’ve passed my first trimester! Been keeping things under wraps for a while. Hello baby 😘

I’m in the high risk category making visits to the doctor for scans and observation every two weeks. I was not sure if I will pass the first trimester. Taking this one week at a time.

Thankfully the NT test results are acceptable. Not high risk for Down syndrome. We declined any further tests because no matter how it turns out, we have decided to keep the baby.

More than three months ago, I was injecting myself going through the pain of IVF only to have the embryologist tell us, “Quality not ideal,” while going through the report.

Ten eggs were retrieved, eight fertilised, only one made it to blastocyst stage. The other fertilised eggs were disposed due to poor quality. They could not tell if there was a problem with the egg or sperm. I cried.

I did not want to go for the embryo transfer as it would be on my first day of work but I did it anyway after doctor’s advice. I did not take any hospitalisation leave like many others after my embryo transfer and I went to work. I was hospitalised after that due to diarrhoea a few days before I was due for pregnancy blood tests. All the injections and pain was for nothing I thought.

Luckily out of two embryos that was transferred, one made it. My baby is a fighter.

Thank you for all your prayers and baby dusts! For those who are still trying, don’t give up!
