You may have heard. Singapore is repealing the Penal code 377A finally.

The LGBTQIA+ folks rejoiced whereas the conservatives condemned.
I belong to +. Allies.
To me, the existence of the penal code did not stop men having sex with each other in the first place so we can do away with this redundancy. At least whatever people will not be criminalised for what they do in their private lives. Who the hell is so chek ark call police when others are having sex? What has it got to do with you? Is it because you are not having any?
I could not believe the amount of flak I got when I made a comment on Facebook, “Make love. Not war.”
Some questioned my worth as a woman if my husband become gay or is seduced by one. I am not sure why they have to mention my husband. If it makes him happy, why not? I already know my worth is not determined by a man. I’ll rather he become gay than visit massage parlours for happy endings. LOL.
Some said it will be a pain in the butt and will be the rise of HIV and monkey pox.
What is up with all these homophobic comments?
As if gay men will start going around raping you and the whole world will turn gay like some apocalypse?
I will not stop being friends with my dear friend who is happily married to his husband.
Bottom line is, I will not love my son less if he is gay. If he is gay, I only hope society will be more accepting.
Same sex marriage may not be recognised yet. ICA may not start granting domestic partnership (as a matter of fact, they don’t even recognise this at all). We can do better.
Nonetheless, it is still worth celebrating because it is a step towards a more inclusive, diverse and tolerant society in Singapore. One that I would like to live in.
