Bookworm 12: The NFT Handbook

Resolution 2022 — Read a book every month, December.

The NFT Handbook – How to Create, Sell and Buy Non-Fungible Tokens by Matt Fortnow and Quharrison Terry.

This is a handbook and more than what I can summarise in one post. You can read the review on Hyperallergic instead.

This book caught my eye at the library after I made a mental note to borrow, not buy more books to read.

When I was on a career break and helping out my real estate manager, I was in frequent contact with the industry leaders, I gathered that multiple sources of income is the way to go. No successful person only deal with one trade.

I’m already on a quest to build my different streams of income but I am nowhere near financial freedom. Regular work, insurance, stocks and shares, real estate investment as well as agent work.

Recently, NFTs kept popping up and I do read about it and curious. I am still exploring and I hope it may be the new source of income for me since I still have interest in cryptocurrency which I now know is being used to purchase NFTs after reading this book.

When Bitcoin was fresh out in the market and available for purchase via atm like machines many years back, I wasn’t willing to part with a few hundred dollars because I can buy plane tickets for a short shopping weekend trip with that money.

Plus, Warren Buffet didn’t believe in them. I scoffed.

Sad to admit I completely missed the Bitcoin boat.

If only I knew how big crypto would be. That few hundreds would at least be a six to seven figure sum now.

The biggest regret is not trying.

Three things anyone need to get started with NFTs, Opensea, Metamask and Coinbase or Binance or Crypto (referral code in links). I recommend downloading the various apps and using Chrome. It is unfriendly to Safari.

Lesson learnt: If it is not too expensive, I am willing to part with some money and try. Good if I can learn, better if I earn.

Update: FYI, Coinbase has such such inefficient account reset procedure that I went along with Binance. Transaction on Binance is nannied in Singapore hence I ended up using Crypto (referral code: p2yyrxn8wq) instead plus its ease of transaction.

I managed to create accounts for those mentioned mentioned above. May you who is reading this get started on this journey and start making some money soon.

Rule of thumb, don’t invest money you cannot afford to lose.

Happy New Year and good luck!
