You Got This – Stay Fearless and Focused compiled by Peggy Jones.
This is book one of the three little book of quotes I read at the library while I was on a three hours break from work.
This book is packed with quotes and reminders meant to be a companion on a person’s quest to conquer their own fears and claim their victory.
Words that popped:
1. If yesterday is heavy, put it down.
2. You can make it through today.
3. Take a step back, stay strong, stay grounded and press on — LL Cool J
4. It’s about putting one step in front of another, about forward movement to where you wanna be — Ava DuVernay
5. At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can — Friday Kahlo
6. Find Your Version of happiness.
Not sure where is the stay “fearless” and “focused” part from the title. It is up to the reader to decipher.
My manager recently implemented a 3 hours break from work during office hours once a month for each member of the team.
We can choose when we want to take it and nobody from work should contact us while we are taking a break because everyone in the team would have received a calendar invite from the initiator.
Also, no electronic devices are allowed while we are taking this break
Maybe all these electronic devices are evil because I remembered my phone locked up after I checked myself into the mental hospital for post natal depression. The psychiatrist kept said I should sleep for the next 8 hours while I was kept at the observation ward. They said it will do me good.
I remembered becoming more irritated and stressed because I didn’t manage to inform my then manager I am hospitalised and I was not sure how people would react on mental health issues.
Social media is bad when you start comparing your life with others. How others seemed to have better spouses, more expensive bags and better behaved children.
Maybe those who always show their affection to their other half are the ones that are truly unhappy in their marriages.
Maybe those who bought multiple designer bags save up for years and got it from resellers.
Maybe their children are actually terrors and spoilt brats.
Maybe we shouldn’t even mention others but whatever makes them happy, just let them be.
Self management is key.
