The Faulty Lift

Update to the previous post. I got a visit to my unit from a staff accompanied by security.

Showing me a footage of my child and helper, she asked, “This is your son right? He peed in the lift (after the lift door failed to open). We received resident complain about the pee. Please get your helper to clean up the lift next time. Don’t expect my cleaners to do it.”

You have time to pull out the footage of a child’s leaked pee but no time to settle the faulty lift?

I mentioned he peed due to the distress from the faulty lift door. If the lift didn’t fail, he wouldn’t pee. Get the lift sorted and this wouldn’t happen.

“These are two separate incidents,” she said.

Wow. Oh WOW!

Since she seemed to only be here as a messenger and has no interest to solve amy real issue, “Sure,” I replied.

Then it occurred to me something is very wrong with what the staff conveyed.

1. The lift is still a problem and shouldn’t someone be responsible for the frequent occurrences?

2. What does the maintenance fees include? I have to remember to clean up common areas in moments of distress because the estate cleaners will not be doing do.

3. Requesting my helper to clean common areas. A domestic worker is meant to work in my place of residence. Not outside.

I wanted to play lip service but something about the unsympathetic staff triggered me. Some people are not suited for customer facing roles. I might beat her up if security was not present.

Hence, I wrote in to the MCST again to request the below:

1. Bring the frequent faulty lift matter up to the residents management council for a solution on the lift. I used to be in the same council on behalf of my parents 20 years ago, so this is not a big ask.

2. Issuing a notice to all residents that we have to clean up after ourselves if we make a mess due to distress from similar incidents.

3. Produce a written request for my helper to clean up the mess my son created in common areas when I am not around because I want to seek the advice and approval from the Ministry of Manpower.

I am waiting for your response, Knight Frank.

Anyway, my heart goes out to the little girl who was trapped in the lift with her mum. Same age as my son and I completely understand what the family has to deal with. Hope you get better soon little one.
