Extra Income

“It will be nice to run this business,” the husband said.

“Go check out how we can do this business,” he said.

“Sign up for this delivery platform and I’ll do it,” he said.

The clock is ticking. He is looking out for opportunities since his lifespan as a civil servant will not last forever. Alas, nothing ever came to fruition and it always landed on my lap.

“I have a friend who left civil service and do delivery. He could get the same amount as what he was drawing,” he said.

Now that I have my own car, I completed my registration that has been pending since covid for a delivery platform and handed the access to him. He did not want to use his name and ID because civil servants are not allowed to have other incomes.

After a day of having a go at delivery, he said it will be nice if we do this together. One person drive and the other to take and deliver the order.

WHO LOOKS AFTER YOUR CHILD?! THE MAID AGAIN?!

I DO NOT HAVE ANYMORE FREAKING CAPACITY TO RUN ANYMORE OF YOUR CASUAL BUSINESS. I said.

If you want ideas to run a business, go and network. Go do proper planning and execute it yourself. We had loads of chances when we hosted parties but you did not want to mingle.

Please do not treat me like a subordinate with a statement and expect me to make it happen. I am not going to pick up after you anymore.

My idea of extra income is having a sustainable source that can generate income even when you are asleep, not one that ends when you stop doing it like delivery service.

Ever since I had that outburst, he has been spending his weekends doing delivery for extra income and I actually felt guilty because it is hardly enough to pay for my monthly car loan. We can afford the second car without him doing this at all.

I regretted buying another car without doing any detailed financial planning. I was just tired of not being able to get a cab when I needed one and not wanting to depend on him to pick me up after my events because I don’t like to see his impatient face and him cursing and swearing at other drivers.

Second career, retirement or just extra income, I noticed I am less harsh on him ever since he started doing delivery. Better he go out and earn extra money than stay home and scroll his phone doing unproductive stuff. The money goes to my account anyway…
