Last year, I volunteered as a youth mentor for polytechnics students for the second time. 

Unlike the first run, my mentee from the second run still kept in contact with me and it has been more than a year since we met.

Recently, he reached out again asking to meet because he went for holiday and got me a gift.

Before the meeting, he said he is bringing his gf. Awwwww. I felt like a proud parent meeting my son’s gf for the first time. 

I must have done something right somewhere to have such trust.

They are working in the same team. He is an intern and she is a full timer. 

He will be heading to university after his internship whereas she is staying in a full time job and making plans on her next move.

“Yeah. Better keep your relationship under wraps for now,” I said.

Long story short, he thinks she needed career advice and I am probably a trusted advisor in his circle.

I’m that person who give superb advise but is the one who probably needed it most..
