Housing in SG 08: Officially Sold

Offer accepted in November 2024.

After a few months of waiting for the paperwork to be completed and appointment at HDB Hub, the sale is finally completed in March 2025.

OFFICIALLY SOLD!

For the next few weeks after the offer was accepted, I had to go back to new enquirers and inform those who came to view that the place is sold . I left the listing on as I was still uncomfortable. It is only considered sold when money is back in to my bank account and my CPF.

Now that it is in my account, I feel rich… For the next few months, let it accumulate some interest before I use it on the next mortgage. I am trying to get used to the feeling of seeing money but not being able to do anything with it.

Back into the rat race and being a slave as an employee for another 20 years. Oh, I did not actually leave. I should say please concentrate on being a good rat for the next 20 years.

If the old place was unsold, I only need to work until this year to pay off the mortgage. Times like this made me wonder why I bothered to “upgrade”.

Oh, to be close to kiddo’s future school. Well, there are cheaper places like the current but brand new is better than resale.

Oh, to have a better quality of life. Private is preferred to public. Face.

Oh, to be close to my parents. Since I moved back to be closer to them, I have never activated their help for childcare or anything but it gave me a sense of security. They seldom ask for help, but I believe they are comforted knowing that a child is staying nearby.

For the last reason, maybe the decision was not so bad after all.

My future neighbours even created a Telegram group chat and send update on the building progress. Seems like an excited bunch of people and I should soak myself in that positivity and stop worrying about unnecessary things…
